Description
The Real Companhia Vinícola building dates from the end of the 19th Century. It was the first construction to house, almost in its entirety, the rectangle drawn in the Matosinhos Plan by Licínio Guimarães, that defined a New York grid to implement the canning factories and other industries. It was also the last building to resist the recent unbridled occupation of the interior of the blocks. A classified building, recovered just in time by Guilherme Machado Vaz from the Matosinhos Municipality, it will be the new home of the Casa da Arquitectura. A house to better preserve, study and promote the architectural archives entrusted to it. It will also be the house of other songs, other arts and a cosmopolitan place, that the city will appreciate.
