Description
A year before the beginning of the construction of this building, Portuguese Language Orthographic Agreement only still had 23 letters in its alphabet. The “K” and the “W” were odd letters for our language just as the building that Arménio Losa and Cassiano Barbosa projected was strangely modern. The building was at, the then new, Sá da Bandeira street where the headquarters of the German automobile company would be housed. At the DKW the innovations aren’t merely aesthetic. Housing, commerce, offices and parking, live together in the same structure with independent entries. To go up the spiral stairs, go through the indoor galleries and visit its apartments, reveal spaces and a way to inhabit that even today is surprising.
