Description
Belonging to the sea, a lighthouse is a construction made to be detected at a distance and to see further away. It also serves to warn the seamen in order for them to arrive to shore safely. In a time of blind confidence in GPS and the sophisticated telecommunication systems, it is the last resort to guarantee a safe navigation, in the eventuality of all else falling. To visit the Leça Lighthouse and go up its almost 50 meters of height is like stepping into another time, in a watchmaker’s piece, where old mechanisms are immaculately maintained by the continuous zeal of lighthouse keepers.
