Description
A few minutes from the city centre, this house functions as a true refuge, turned into itself, to its garden and tall trees that surround it. In terms of construction, following other experiences by Carlos Castanheira, this is a work that takes risks in exploring unusual materials in contemporary domestic constructions. The option to use “exposed concrete of rough appearance” walls, window frames and wood covering in copper, means the house can retreat from the street as wished and have a great transparency over the private exterior space. To know this private house and go through the massive concrete walls is a rare opportunity to know the inside, hidden, of a work that has awakened a lot of curiosity to passers-by.
