Description
During the seven years necessary to build the S. João Bridge, it was in this building, right at the riverfront that the construction site was overseen and structural challenges were anticipated. The building itself functions as a maquette of the bridge on a smaller scale. 25 years passed from its opening to the railway, and without its main function, this construction with an unconventional anatomy – two large pillars in reinforced concrete supporting two glass volumes –, gained some autonomy and deserves to be visited for the quality of its design.
