Description
This intervention by Carrilho da Graça and Inês Lobo combines the renovation of a 1920s building with the construction of an annex in a new pavilion. The great glass surfaces and the resorting to noble materials like marble combined with other more rough (fair-faced concrete or galvanized steel) tell in a didactic way, the tale of the process of construction, or was this not a construction company. The transformation of small palaces at Avenida da Boavista in administrative buildings represents the last of several stages of the history of this avenue. As a gift to the visitor, this is one of the best examples that it is possible in a contemporary design to reinterpret the sophistication of a pre-existing language.
